Two (unintentional) weeks of silence; life’s been happening, and I’ve lost track of so many days. How have you been?

I’ve got four or five half-finished entries tucked away, but in the meantime I’ll leave you with that Pipi Skid ode to the tape (still my favourite way to listen to music) PLUS a track from a beautiful little mix DJ Vision passed my way this weekend at NXNE. I still prefer tapes to anything else. I’m not a music snob (and I’ll likely get mad if you call me one), but when it comes to concept albums and mixes and long-form musical works, I can’t help but look to these as lost arts. I lament the age of the single, the pervasiveness of the iPod. Those stupid white earbuds make my blood boil. Buy albums! Hip Hop Weiners!

DJ Vision - Track 5 [x]

Speaking of tapes, the Cell Division two put out one of my favourite mixtapes ever. I picked it up, what, four years ago? I brought it with me to the east coast and, for many a Halifax roadtrip, it was THE soundtrack of choice. So well balanced, such good selection. Random fact: I got pretty heavily into PUTS for a few months after I got that tape. I’m excited to see what else Vision and NV have got brewin in the lab these days…
